Mark July 19 on your calendars for the Rocky Mountain Chapter’s 2008 Exposure Day. Activities will begin at 9:00AM and conclude with a pot luck supper. It will be held this year near Willow Creek, MT and directions to the site will be posted later. Anyone with a versatile hunting dog is welcome, especially Griffs!
This is a fun, and very informal event oriented towards both puppies as well as older dogs needing tune-ups. There are two training objectives. One is to ensure that the young dogs get excited over birds. This includes exposing them to deep enough water so that they must swim, in case they had not yet done so. The second objective is to demonstrate to both the dogs and their owners what the WPGCA testing program is all about, and we talk a lot about what to expect and how and why not to become competitive about the WPGCA testing program. Often at least one, the dog or the owner, has never been to a test before. We will have activities related to tracking, retrieving, searching, pointing, and other things folks request. The remainder of the day is filled with talk of wonderful canines, of training ideas, and of possible Fall hunting plans.
