trimming paws

For those of us living in snow country, we recognize that the "extra" hair between a dog's pads on its paws can be problematic as it loads up with snow and ice.  I have never really seen it injure a dog, but I have spent considerable time removing it and my dogs have spent even more chewing out the ice balls.  The ice build-up is clearly uncomfortable for the dog.

After trimming my dogs paws between the pads with a scissors for decades, I recently picked up a tip in a magazine that saves lots of time and reduces the risk of slipped scissors.  Simply use an electric shears like you would use on your beard or hair.  It works really well and is super quick.  Sometimes I overlook the simplest of ideas.  Happy skiing.
