WPGCA and Cornell University Genetics Research Print

The WPGCA requests the particpation of all WPGCA dog owners with an important genetics research project.

veterinarians collect blood sample

A group at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is developing information they hope will link DNA and specific characteristics in canines. This genetic research has the potential to help the WPGCA select dogs for breeding in a much more accurate manner.  The WPGCA is participating in this project by providing  blood samples from our dogs for the Cornell University data base.  Read details about the project in the June 2010 issue of the Gun Dog Supreme.  (You can download a copy of the article here.)

During summer 2010, the WPGCA organized blood draws at club training/exposure days and Fall tests. If you were unable to participate in one of these group events, you can still be involved on an individual basis. We would like to have 100% participation by all club griffons.  Whether your dog is young or old, suitable for breeding or neutered, the project needs data on your dog.  Please don't wait!  Download and follow the instructions from the intructions sidebar at left.
